Larry loves God, his family and people. You would expect him to love God, but when you meet with him or listen to one of his messages you begin to realize that he has a passion for the Lord and the grace, love, hope and joy God pours out to us with every breath we take. You would expect him to love his family, and he does so with all the love and dedication he can give. And, if you talk to people who know him, they will quickly add that Larry loves people. They will say he is fun and funny (at least sometimes), caring and compassionate to people in need, and alive with the Spirit of God. You will have to decide for yourself, but realize whether you like him or not, he will accept you as you are and love you in Christ. Now for the normal bio stuff: Larry is a retired ordained Elder and an approved Associate Evangelist of the United Methodist Church. Since 1975 Larry has served churches throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, including churches in Reading, Akron, Havertown, Pocono Lake, Pen Argyl and Reeders before beginning his ministry with the people of Cherry Lane UMC. From 1993 to 1998 Larry served as a conference approved full time “General Evangelist” for the denomination. During that period he simultaneously taught Biology and Anatomy and Physiology for the Pocono Mountain School District. He was also the coordinator of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) which addressed at-risk behaviors of youth for the school district. As a member of NAUME (National Association of United Methodist Evangelists) since 1987, he continues his evangelism outreach through “Hope Transforms,” an online ministry he founded and serves as director. (Visit www.HopeTransforms.com to read any of his more than 470 blogposts.) Larry has served as a consultant for church growth and evangelism, as well as assisting conflicted churches in the process of healing. He has served as a community organizer to combat racism. Larry has served as a resource for school districts which faced racial and other conflicts. Married in 1974, Larry and Deb, have led marriage enrichment and parenting programs. Larry and Deb continue to enjoy their three adult sons, Bradley, Jeffrey and Daniel, and their families. They also enjoy the companionship of their Sheltie, Callie.
